A Mindful Journey is pleased to offer personalized therapeutic medication interventions and mental health therapy for individuals, couples, and families to enhance quality of life. Our providers see clients of all age ranges.

While we can’t change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve the challenges in your life. At A Mindful Journey, we work collaboratively with both you and your medical and mental health providers to help ensure safe and positive outcomes.

Medication Management Services
Mindy Roberts, Jessica Caine, Katie Campbell and Jenni McCann provide personalized therapeutic medication management services to enhance
quality of life on an individual basis to children, adolescents and adults in Dubuque and the surrounding areas. They strive to offer knowledgeable and personalized care to each individual. They will work with you to design an individual treatment plan that can best help manage your symptoms, and improve your mental health well-being. They accept a wide variety of insurances, and also those preferring to self-pay.

Mindy Roberts
Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner
Mindy Roberts, ARNP, is a board-certified family psychiatric nurse practitioner who is qualified to practice in psychiatry; diagnose, treat, and prescribe medication for children, adolescents, and adults. Some of her practice specialties include (but not limited to) ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, and Schizophrenia. She believes in the mind/body/spiritual connection. She believes open communication and a team approach with patients is the best way to achieve treatment goals.
Mindy earned her master's degree in Nursing as a Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner from Allen College in Waterloo, Iowa. Her bachelor's degree in Nursing is from University of Dubuque and she has an associate degree in Nursing from Northeast Iowa Community College. She is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
While not in the clinic, Mindy enjoys spending time with her husband and son. She also has a love for dachshunds especially her own Scooby and Shaggy.

Jessica Caine
Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner
Jessica Caine, ARNP, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified family psychiatric nurse practitioner who is qualified to practice in mental health. She can diagnose, treat, and prescribe medication for children, adolescents, and adults. Practice specialties include, but are not limited to, ADHD, depression, anxiety, and mood disorders.
Jessica feels that a team approach and open communication between clients and their providers is key to bettering a person's health. She believes that while medications can play an integral role in one’s well-being, both therapy and lifestyle improvements also play an important role.
Jessica earned her Master's degree in Nursing as a Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) from the University of South Alabama. Her Bachelor's degree in Nursing is from Cumberland University in Tennessee. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
Jessica accepts a wide variety of insurances and also accepts
self-pay clients.
In her free time, she enjoys kayaking, spending time with her family and animals, and reading.

Katie Campbell
Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner
Katie Campbell, ARNP, PMHNP-BC, is a board certified adult psychiatric nurse practitioner. She is qualified to perform psychiatric evaluations to diagnose, develop a treatment plan, and prescribe and manage psychotropic medications for individuals from the age of 18 years old through the rest of the life span. Practice specialties include depression, anxiety disorders, attention deficit disorders, psychotic disorders and mood disorders. Katie feels that building rapport with an individual is the foundation to effective treatment. She takes the approach of integrating all aspects of one’s life including socioeconomics, behaviors and genetics to assist the individual in developing an individualized treatment plan.
Katie earned her Master’s Degree in Nursing as an Adult Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner from the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, OH. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at Clarke College in Dubuque, IA. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Katie has over a decade of experience working in outpatient community brain health treatment, adult residential treatment and assertive community treatment services.
Katie accepts a wide variety of insurances and also accepts self-pay clients.
Katie spends her free time with her family and friends, and they enjoy camping for leisure.

Jenni McCann
DNP, ARNP, PMHNP-BC
Jenni McCann, DNP, ARNP, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner who is qualified to practice in mental health; diagnoses, treat, and prescribe medication to children, adolescents, and adults. Practice specialties include (but not limited to) attention deficit disorders, depression, anxiety disorders and mood disorders. Jenni believes that building a therapeutic rapport with clients, appropriate medications, and collaborative teamwork are essential for effective treatment.
Jenni earned her Doctor of Nursing at Clarke University Dubuque, Iowa in 2017 and returned to Clarke University in January 202 to earn Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification. Her Bachelor of Science in Nursing was earned at Clarke College Dubuque, Iowa in 2008. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Jenni accepts a wide variety of insurances and accepts self-pay clients.

Rich Corfman
Licensed Independent Social Worker
Rich Corfman, LISW, has over 30 years of experience. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with his Bachelor's Degree in Social Work in 1984, and his Master's Degree in Social Work in 1986. Rich has been licensed in the state of Iowa since 1994.
As a Mental Health Therapist, Rich is well-versed in a number of counseling types. Rich's therapy style is integrative, which means that he designs therapy to fit the unique needs and life circumstances that each person seeking help brings with them. Rich has formal education in multiple therapy types and stays current through attending continuing education on a regular basis. Rich works with anyone who is 12 years old or older. Rich accepts most insurances and offers self-pay options as well.
In his personal life, Rich has been happily married since 1985 to Marty. He enjoys bird watching, hikes in nature, golfing, dogs and playing pool in his spare time.

Patricia Ochs
Licensed Independent Social Worker
Patty is a Licensed Independent Social Worker who provides individual counseling for children (12+), adolescents, and adults. Patty works to build therapeutic relationships with each client to help them feel safe and supported. Patty is empowerment focused to help clients achieve their goals and outcomes. Patty is trained in multiple therapeutic techniques- such as Motivational Interviewing, EMDR, CBT and more. Areas of interest include but are not limited to: Trauma, Grief, Depression, Anxiety, Life Adjustments, and Self-Harm reduction.
Patty obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work and Sociology from Loras College. She obtained her Masters Degree In Social Work at St. Ambrose University. She is Licensed in the state of Iowa and is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).
Patty accepts a variety of insurances and offers self-pay options for clients. Please note, however, that Patty is not currently accepting new Medicaid clients.

Mindy Finn
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Mindy Finn is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Iowa. She has a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Mindy operates from a strengths-based, client-centered approach to empower her clients, promote positive self-image, and improve interpersonal relationships. She is experienced in treating adults, adolescents, children, families, and couples. Mindy specializes in treating trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, addiction, life adjustment issues, personality disorders, family and relationship issues.
Mindy is trained in a variety of evidence-based therapy interventions including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is highly effective in healing PTSD, trauma and other related disorders/issues; Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT); Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); Motivational Interviewing (MI); Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); Theraplay; Play Therapy; and Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT).

Shana Kutsch
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Shana Kutsch is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor providing individual therapy services to children (age 12+), adolescents and adults. She has experience working with a wide range of emotional and behavioral concerns including depression, anxiety, stress management, interpersonal concerns, low self-esteem, trauma related issues, and life adjustments. Shana believes it is important to tailor the therapeutic process to best fit the needs of each individual client in a way that focuses on personal strengths in a non-judgmental and safe environment. She focuses on personal empowerment to help clients achieve their own goals.
Shana graduated from the University of Dubuque with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Criminal Justice in 2012. She obtained her Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2015.

Julia Updegraff
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Julia Updegraff is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. She has been working as a therapist since 2015. Julia provides individual counseling to teens and adults. Julia has experience working with a variety of issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationships, trauma, life transitions and self-esteem. Some of Julia’s favorite therapy approaches include Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Person Centered Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Narrative Therapy. Julia believes her role in therapy is to be a nonjudgmental, compassionate partner in your healing.
Julia graduated from The University Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2012. She earned her Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from Avila University in Kansas City, MO in 2014.

Melissa Anderson
Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW)
Melissa Anderson, Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), has over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field. She received her Doctorate Degree in Clinical Social Work from Walden University and her Master’s Degree in Social Work from St. Ambrose University. Melissa has extensive experience with co-occurring substance use issues, trauma, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, adoption, foster care, couples counseling & veteran work.
Melissa is trained in a variety of therapeutic techniques which includes: Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) & Mindfulness. Melissa works to build therapeutic partnerships with each client to help them feel safe, supported, and empowered to reach their goals. She uses an integrative, strengths-based and solution-focused approach.

Jamie Klein
Licensed Independent Social Worker
Jamie is a Licensed Independent Social Worker who cares deeply about helping adults, adolescents, and children work through the challenges they face on their journey through life.
Jamie uses a strength based, person centered, philosophy. Jamie has experience implementing an array of therapeutic techniques, and he believes that every person will respond to an approach that uniquely fits them. The primary focus is creating a space that is accepting, safe and authentic.
Jamie aspires to meet clients where they are and to partner with them in achieving their goals. He appreciates the importance of an individual having a nonjudgmental space where they can tell their story and intentionally work towards the place they want to be.
Jamie earned his Master of Social Work Degree from Clarke University and his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. He is an Independently Licensed Social Worker in the State of Iowa and is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). Jamie has worked in the social work field since 2013 in a variety of capacities, has an array of professional and personal experience, and is a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Outside of work, Jamie enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children, going on outdoor adventures, endurance sports and fitness.
